Troop Memo 01/01/2008

Welcome back. I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to a GREAT year in Troop 804. Last year was a good year. We had many of you advance and make great progress. It is now time to implement a few changes to make our Troop even better than it has been. As of January 3, 2008 the following changes will be in effect:

  1. The Senior Patrol Leader is responsible for the Troop.
  2. Patrols will function as patrols: cook as patrols, camp as patrols.
  3. Patrols are responsible for their equipment and need to be assured that everything that they need is in place and loaded before leaving for an outing (a checklist is suggested).
  4. Patrol members will commit to a camping trip 2 meetings in advance of an outing.
  5. Menus will be prepared and ready 2 meetings before camping trip and approved by an adult.
  6. Food list are to be prepared and assignment for purchase of food (with money for food) 2 meetings before camping trip. This duty is to be rotated and shared by all members of the patrol.
  7. Duty rosters will be posted and adhered to during camping trip. Be sure that duties are equal and that patrol members that need cooking for advancement are considered.
  8. The patrol leader is responsible for #’s 2, 3, 5 & 6 above and will assume all duties if not taken care of or duties are not equal. You may wish to have these items reviewed by your Patrol Advisor for the first few times to be sure that duties are shared equally.
  9. There will be no disposable plates, cups or silverware used on camping trips.
  10. Advancement policy will be adhered to and checked before a scout is scheduled for a board of review.
  11. Uniforms need to be worn at all meetings and to all outings.
  12. Patrol scribe will be responsible for making list of patrol members at meetings and outings and give to troop scribe so that proper recording may be made. If list are not prepared then credit for event will not be posted. This will affect advancement and Order of the Arrow eligibility.
  13. Camp will be set up upon arriving at destination of camping before any patrol member goes to bed or other activities begin.
  14. All dishes and cookware will be cleaned after a meal.
  15. Any deviations of the above requirements will require the approval of the Scoutmaster prior to the outing.
